DIEP Flap anyone?
 

Hi Girls,
Has anyone undergone the DIEP flap procedure? I had a complete mastectomy Sept 09. My onc wants me to wait 2 years before I even consider reconstruction. I'm starting to look into my reconstrcution options but I think my ONLY option will be DIEP flap. I see that this is a huge surgery and I'm wondering if the result is worth it. I really miss being 'complete' but if the recovery is grueling and the scars left behind are awful then maybe it's not worth it ....... If you've done it or considered doing it but haven't yet I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject pro or con. Thanks and best to all of us!

Hi Leslie, I had a diep flap done about 4 years ago and am very happy with the results.

It is a big surgery, but the scars are not bad.

I went down to New Orleans for it, and can't say enough about the surgeons down there.
