How to read Echo results?

Am directing this to the American ladies here as it seems you get results of every test handed to you. That does not happen on this side of the Atlantic. But, when I have an echo test I am handed an envelope with the results and asked to give them to my oncologist because when they enter the results into the computer system it can take ages to show up. So, if I open this envelope (why should I not, my name is on it!), will it say ejection fraction is ... or will it be in obscure medical terms and I wont know what I am looking at? Am really dreading this next Echo, hate waiting for the results in case I am taken off Herceptin. So am thinking if e/f is still low I could just turn on my heel back to the cardiology dept (before I meet with the oncologist) and insist they give me the ok to go ahead on H because I show no symptons like swelling ankles or shortness of breath. Any thoughts?

Re: How to read Echo results?

The most important part of the results is the LVF. It should be above 50 to be eligible for Herceptin or Tykerb. That is the result we should all be looking at before we look at the other results.
