This is of particular interest to me and supports what my onc has been telling me about Lupron. I have been on it since 11/05 and my onc told me in January it may prove to be my best line of defense re mets.

I am aware of the origin, but why your title "Do no harm" Alaska?

Hi Sassy,

I think you are right -- probably others wonder too. I just see this opportunity for choice as being so important for those women who are faced with considering the decision between these 2 therapies. When I was diagnosed 5 years ago, here in the US the option to choose something other than chemotherapy like this was only a murmur of speculation. It is so important that these very real choices are made to the women concerned, and not pushed aside by popular medical opinion while avoiding conducting actual investigation to see if they are worthwhile. That is what I meant. Do no harm. At one time all we were allowed to have was the Halsted procedure, and not investigating better treatment was doing harm.

I look forward to the day when perhaps a serious effort will be made to investigate some of the questions we still have about therapies that are less toxic, perhaps such as a better understanding of the endocrine system and treating breast cancer as an endocrine disease.

Thanks for asking,

AlaskaAngel
