pea size nodule

I have a hard pea size nodule in my back right hip. It doesn't move and it only hurts in the area surrounding it. Also it is set in my hip maybe a half inch. Has any one ever had one of these there? I don't think it is anything bad. I just had a bone scan 5 or 6 weeks ago and all is well. Just thought I'd ask. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

nancy/pray: I was reading today in Coping with Radiation (excellent book i highly recommend for general knowledge about all the types of tests we get in all sorts of machines) that CT or CAT scan as it is sometimes called is the best for detection of nodes that are full of cancer. I would ask the onc for one asap. It sounds like a bone spur to me...arthritis, but better be safe than sorry in case it is a node.
Prays going out to you. online, by the way, you can buy for a hundred dollars a hand held ultrasound device that greatly reduces inflammation and spinal pain and referred pain. praying for you, pray.

Do we have nodes in the back of our hips?

Have you talked to your health care provider about it? It sounds like an ulcer/pimple - the surrounding part containing the inflammation.

Below is a link with illustrations of all the lymph nodes in our body (I think the encyclopedia says we have up to 600 lymph nodes...)

Try not to scare yourself too much. "When you hear hoofbeats, think of horses, not zebras" (I know - easier said than done. :)

It was the " maybe it is not cancer" thought that delayed my diagnosis. So my best recommendation is to seek advice from a medical professional. Really, they are the only ones that will give you an accurate diagnosis. I myself was watching a seemingly chronic inflammation got worse over 4 weeks and had to see a surgeon today to rule out recurrence. Ultrasound is to follow, outpatient excisional biopsy to follow.. ( since i had expanders in he wants to do the biopsy in a sterile environment so we are not doing a punch biopsy in office, although i would rather do so ). If you are concerned, please please see your doctor ASAP. We all dread to hear about " mets " or " recurrence", but it is better to be safe than sorry ! I learned it the hard way !!

Thank you for your response. I've just had so many scares that turn out to be doable problems. I am more afraid of the tests and the dyes! I've had so many! I cold my Dr. anyway and she is out of town until the middle of next week. I will check in with her then.

Thank you

Nancy
