Vitamins and supplements for breast pain
I was at breast health for help with breast pain. I've been taking Kelp with Iodine which relieves it.
The nurse sent me home with Vitamin B1, B6, E and tylenol. If that doesn't work to eventually add Primrose Oil. I think it is interesting that every time I leave the hospital I have a new prescription for vitamins. Are they trending to a more holistic, preventative approach? Makes me feel so much better than taking a bunch of pharmaceuticals. |

My onc also incorporates vitamins/minerals/supplements for relief of side effects and symptoms but is very careful about the doses and any contraindications with my chemo. I'm a recent convert to probiotics.

Re: Vitamins and supplements for breast pain
I think it is good that some oncologists and other cancer specialists are finally waking up to the benefits of vitamins, supplements, herbs and foods. There are even integrative or naturopathic oncologists. It is important however to make sure there are no negative interactions between conventional medicines, vitamins, supplements, herbs and foods. You can check for interactions yourself at www.drugs.com and other sites.
Immediately after my diagnosis I decided that I wanted to treat the cancer with integrative medicine that combines conventional and naturopathic care. It was one of the best things I did for myself. My naturopath has been a valueable member of my medical team for many, many years. |
Re: Vitamins and supplements for breast pain
When I met with my med onc last week to get my chemo schedule I gave him a list of vits that I take. He thought they were all good choices and stated I should continue to take them while on chemo.
Vit B complex Vit D3 400IU Flax Seed Oil with Omega 3, 6, 9 Acidophillus (pro biotic) Vit C 1000mg Calcium 500mg He didn't say "yeah...you should take D because..." he just said they were all ok to take. The probiotic has been helpful lately post op with the constipating s/e of the pain meds I have been on. |
