Thought the following is a good description of all the wonderful caregivers in our life...

One day you may find that someone you care about — a spouse, parent, relative, or close friend — needs help negotiating the daily tasks of life. Perhaps that day has already come for you or someone you know, as it has for more than 65 million Americans. They act as caregivers, offering assistance of all sorts, from grocery shopping and cooking to giving injections or calming an agitated parent suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Through countless unheralded contributions like these, caregivers allow millions of Americans to continue to live as independently as possible.
While rewarding, caregiving may well be the most challenging job you'll ever undertake. Many caregivers are thrown into the role unexpectedly and find themselves completely unprepared for the road ahead. The emotional, financial, and physical strain can leave caretakers feeling squeezed between the demands of caregiving, their own needs, and the needs of their families.
Caregiver's Handbook, a Special Health Report from Harvard Medical School, was designed as a complete resource for anyone thrown into the role of caregiver. This invaluable guide will help you meet the needs of the person you care for. You'll find useful strategies for assisting a loved one with common tasks such as meal planning and personal hygiene. You'll discover advice on legal and financial planning and learn ways to navigate the Medicaid/Medicare maze. The report also details ways to help your loved one remain safely in his or her home, and get advice on options when that is no longer possible.
Most importantly, Caregiver's Handbook will show you how to tap into available resources that will make your job easier and your loved one's life more comfortable. It explains how to get assistance from local agencies and government services and offers tips on how to involve other family members. A special section, called "Care for the caregiver," will provide you with strategies and resources to help you balance caregiving with the other parts of your life.
It's impossible to anticipate every challenge you will face as caregiver. Gaining insight into many of them, along with learning about and employing creative solutions, will help you tackle the demands of caregiving. Let Caregiver's Handbook be the go-to guide that will keep you organized and informed as well as improve the life of your loved one and your own.
