Somebody here will know!

Hi - 13 years out (19+) nodes all NAD. But I have developed what I think is radiation recall. Originally I was told I had a deep seated infection that flares up when I took steroids and allowed the infection to surface and was advised to take Fluclox . This has happened every time I have been on steroids now for the past 10 years. The problem is, if it is actually radiation recall, steroids are what I thought was the treatment for it!. Latest time was after a steroid injection for tennis elbow- so you can see the dosage was tiny. The problem is I think my auto immune status is probably going to require low dose steroids in the future and I cant seem to find anyone who can answer the question what happens then.
Anyone know ? thanks Kitty9

I at first couldnt answer you. I dont think low dose steroids will activate radiation recall. I finely realized you were expecting the low dose steroids to control the radiation recall and only higher doses can do this. I investigate further about low dose steroids activating RR but it doesnt make sense. Anything is possible

Thanks for your reply. Actually I posted a very confusing message. I dont have radiation recall as such - but its the only thing my reaction looks like. I.e. I am not on any kind of treatment chemo or otherwise but get the flush as soon as I take steroids even on low doses. I may have to start on high dose steroids and am concerned it will be even more reactive. My breast looks and feels like I have severe mastitis! Kitty9

Kitty

That clarifies it a bit. Exactly which steroid are you taking? What dosage

Hi Currently I am not taking anything - but last week I had steroid injected into my tendon and the result was the same. I am currently going through testing for auto immune disease and so want to find out what the cause is in case I have to start on regular steroids. Thanks for your help. Kitty
