after aromasin

Soon I've to stop Aromasin, which gave me some defend. I would like to take something instead and I'm thinking about Dr. Eliaz' Breastdefend supplements made of mushrooms and tumeric and modified Citruspectin together. I would take the minimum doses, because it's only for defend. I can skip then the Tumeric that I take already. What do you think about the idea, Tanya? And when I start it, do I've to stop every few months for a month? I eat already a lot of mushrooms, but I would be more quiet to do it this way, because it feels more safe. Maybe partly psychological. My onc. said, that all of this is only commercial.

Thanks for answering me, Maouno

Maouno,
It is often frightening to lose the "safety net" of medications like Aromasin. There may be a place for some supplementation in addition to your diet. I would first ask, though, that you look at your diet for any areas of improvement. One thing we know in breast cancer is that diet appears to make a significant difference in prevention of recurrence. Diets low in saturated fat, moderate in healthy fats (like olive oil, nuts) and high in fruits and vegetables have been proven to lower recurrence risk up to 40% in some studies. Additionally, physical activity--working up to 30 min or more per day is beneficial. Achieving a healthy weight if needed is also known to be crucial in prevention. If you are doing well in all of these areas then I would consider adding a few supplements (omega 3s and vitamin D3). Tumeric shows some benefit due to its strong antioxident properties but may interact with some medications so it would be helpful to meet with a Registered Dietitian who could evaluate the benefits/risks of adding additional supplements.

Let your diet and activity empower you. These are your new safety net.

Best wishes,

Re: after aromasin

After the first time I had BC I got another kind of BC with Her2 at the other side and that must have been started after the Herceptin, after my defense. The first and the second fall had no connection. Only the fact that my immune system isn't strong. I think I did everything quite well with walking and diet, but despite. So now after the second time and just before I had to finish my Aromasin I went to an onc. with CAM and got supplements for boosting my immune system. And advises as granat apple juice, flax oil etc. I got Vit E and CoQ4 and mod. citrus pectin and turkish tail mushrooms and two things more. But it's me too much. I only try now the pectin, which gives me a spastic intestine(my feeble point is IBS C from my childhood and I've to take fiber. I did an inquiry about the best coriolus mushroom, it's complicated and expensive. Mushroomstudies.co gives advise.Mushroomscience coriolus didn't get such a high score as I thought. I don't feel happy, I think I've to take something but not everything and in a slowly way to get used. Doing nothing isn't good either in my case. Some advise maybe helpful!

Maouno,
Does your cancer center offer the services of a Registered Dietitian, preferably one with oncology expertise? I think this would be a good idea as they could help you sort out symptoms and prioritize your best line of defense for taking care of yourself through lifestyle changes.

Tanya, thanks for your advise.
Yes, there is a dietitian in the hospital's onc. department. If she can help I don't know, because these CAM supplements as mushrooms and mod.citrus-pectin are not in their basket. But I found that there're advices how to use them online. I went on with my research and I don't believe in the site 'mushroomstudies.co'. They only promote one kind of all the coriolus mushrooms. I think that nevertheless 'mushroomscience' is the best one, because they let the mushrooms grow slowly on wood and they get a hot water extraction. I'll go to a meditation retreat with DR Isaac Eliaz soon, I think it will be helpful too.. I've to have patience to find the right balance..
