I have this tingly lip thing going on after my injections They don't look swollen.

Can't do benadryl, severely allergic.

My blood pressure goes up to 140/100 and then starts easing down. So I don't have the typical Leukine reaction there. And I don't have bone pain, its more of a joint ache and muscle ache.

Next week my dose of Leukine will be reduced and I am hoping I won't have that terrible headache.

Congrats on getting into this trial. I have been following Dr. Peoples work for sometime and many other vaccine research projects. Unfortunately, my cancer progressed before I could get enrolled in a vaccine trial.

I hope you have an onc that is supportive of vaccine trials. I have yet to find one that believes in any of these vaccines. I hope that brave women like you prove them all wrong.

I'm really lucky to get into a vaccine trial. My doctor is delighted and supportive.

I hope the medical industry will start to embrace treatments that work with the immune system and give a better quality of life. I believe the vaccine is making a difference for me.

I don't think of myself as brave, just highly motivated. If I sit back and wait for the cancer to metatisize then I will not be able to get my pilot medical certificate back for 5 years. And I am too young to be ill, I want to be healthy!

Plus I told my nephew that cancer treatment would be better for his generation. I intend to do my part to see that it is. I am determined that women in the future have better choices for treatment than we did. Stubborn, maybe, not brave, lol.

This is exciting to me. I hope the results of this study help to change the industry attitude toward vaccines as a treatment. In this study we might find 2 ways to reduce reccurence and mortality, vaccine and GM-CSF.

Peoples mentioned a new study combining GP2 with Herceptin. He says the Phase I of my study showed that it affected 3 pathways.

The more treatments the merrier!

I have also been on trial am HLA negative,so far have not had any severe adverse reaction,but am on trial in europe.

Are you in an AE37 arm? Or is it a different vaccine?

Am HLA2 neg so AE37 /gmcsf ,have finished trial now and am on boosters .

I went up to Winston-Salem last weekend and am now in the trial! I will be going back the week of April12th for the week long first visit with scratch tests and the injection. They had to redraw my blood because Mayo had tested me for HLA-B27 instead of HLA-A1. I am assuming I will still be HLA neg. because that is what the first test showed. However, the nurse said I may not be. She was uncertain if they were going to offer the boosters there, so I talked with your nurse at Fort Sam Houston and she assured me that all participants would receive the same treatments. She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I kinda wish I had chosen that site. My husband is retired from the Navy, so I am familiar with military facilities. I chose the North Carolina site because it is the nearest. So I will begin there. I feel so lucky to participate in this as I know you do!

Shoot Penny, I signed the form for the boosters and forgot promptly where I put it. To my recollection 4 injections of the control arm received every 6 months for the booster shots.

I am only allowed 2 as have been on trial since aug 08 ...do you know how long they last?

Hello to All,
I am up in Winston-Salem NC and have just received the last of my six inoculations! This has really passed quickly and with very few side effects. Wednesday I go back over to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center for the nurse to evaluate my reactions. I will return in three weeks for the scratch tests. I have been told they are going to offer the boosters up here also, but they don't have their paper work together yet. Surely, they will when I come back. I feel so fortunate to have been included in this trial. This is the only one that is looking at vaccine for HLA-A2 neg. people. In other trials, they have been used as controls. The vaccine I have been hopefully getting is AE37 peptide vaccine. Recently, results from a phase I trial using this same vaccine for prostate cancer patients has been published showing positive results for these patients also.

I feel great and in July I got a report of clean scans and a normal CA 15-3!!! So, I am now a TWO year SURIVOR!!!

Thanks to this board, I learned about the Walter Reed vaccine trial. I will be forever grateful. Thank you for all of the encouragement and advice so many of you have offered me. This disease has humbled me by the response of not only family and friends but total strangers as well.

Sandra GA - that is great news that you are finishing up the 6 months. I am so excited that you have hit the 2 year "SURIVOR" mark! I'm coming up on 3 years in November. Gosh does time go by fast.
