Joe,

You have just solved the puzzle for me. When I was teaching the life skills class (2006-2007) in a middle school, one of my students used that 'Ans.' every chance he got. I didn't know where he had learned that expression. Now it seems obvious... [Either it's a very common expression, or you had taught him... :)]
