another one
This one is dedicated to The Big C that has been hanging on my shoulder for over a year. I love the rhythm and energy this song gives out and MOST (but not all) the words are pretty much appropriate....IT IS.....
I WANT TO BREAK FREE by QUEEN Harriecanarie |
I needed inspiration to get from home to the treatment center on the busy trains so I listened to Harry Belafonte's "Jump in the Line" (Shake Senora) and had fun imagining all the people crowded into the train jumping up and starting to dance.
I also found a lot of the music I remember from a time of less worries in my life, radio music playing in the car on the way to and from nursery school, suddenly comforting; Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Monkees, Jackson 5, Simon & Garfunkel, Don McLean and the Peanuts cartoon theme (Linus and Lucy) from the Charlie Brown cartoons. These days the new Apple slim notebook computer commercial song, "New Soul" is relaxing. Grateful Dead music too. I blasted Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries as I attacked the cancer during my first chemo regime two years ago and needed to wind myself down with some old Cat Stevens before taking the bus home. |
You just reminded me Kathy, when I was in high school, I bought a Wagner album that had Ride of the Valkyries on it, and taped it onto 8-track for my car, and also my Mom and Dad had the soudtrack from the movie, "Lawrence of Arabia", and I thought that sounded pretty cool, so, that had to go onto 8-track for the car, too, lol. Actually, it's been a looong time since I heard that soundtrack. I wonder if it still would sound as cool?

Wind Beneath My Wings
by Isreal Kamakawiwaole (originally by Bette Midler) This song is I dedicated to my own Mother who raised her three daughters as a single mom and having to deal with breast cancer." ............Did you ever know that you're my hero, and ev'rything I would like to be? I can fly higher then an eagle. 'cause you are the wind beneath my wings......" |
That was me...
The above post was submitted by me, Harriecanarie (maryanne).

I was given a great CD by Olivia Newton John called "Grace and Gatitude" - it is "new age" and quickly became my favorite CD - the title song became the song I used to help me face the cancer battle.
I highly recommend this CD to anyone going through hard times - it was a walgreen's exclusive but there are copies available at Amazon.com. You can hear some of the songs on this website: http://www.olivianewton-john.com/graceandgratitude.html I just noticed that if you can't find it at Walgreens - you can get new copies of it from the Canada's Amazon: http://www.amazon.ca/Grace-Gratitude...6920645&sr=8-1 |
