Hello, I'm off to South Africa next month and am faced with getting jabs and taking malaria pills. I am just wondering if there would be any interaction with my arimidex? I'm sure lots of you have had jabs and taken malaria pills since being diagnosed and hope for some advice. I was diagnosed 5 years ago and so far.........fingers crossed I'm fine :-)
Thanks
Morgan

Morgan,

South Africa! How exciting! Wish you a wonderful trip beforehand.

Couldn't find anything to answer your question specifically. But thought this CDC website might help. There are many different types of pills to choose from. And there's a toll-free number for the health care providers. You might be able to get your doctor to call for the information you need.

Jackie, thanks very much for link.......it was really useful and interesting. I live in Scotland but will show this to my doctor as she has suggested a couple but after reading the info on them in the article I'm not keen, so will suggest the one I think and see what she says!
Nothings straight forward after breast cancer......gone are the days when we could just do things on a whim, at least for me I need to analyse everything then again and again ;-)

Thanks
Morgan

You know, 5 years out... You will not be taking the pills that long so even if there is the slightest chance there is interference, you won't be there years. Just take the Arimidex and any other pills you have to take as far apart as possible. Arimidex in the pm and and everything else in the am (or vice versa). What's a girl to do? Enjoy!

I was on Femara not Arimedex and herceptin and took all the jabs and malaria pills with no ill effects but ask the doctor if you're concerned.
Have a great time.
