Hi. I got diagnosed with a new invasive ductal carcinoma tumor on 6/21/10, also HER2 + but barely (5%) + for estrogen and negative for progesterone this time. Same breast. My first cancer was also HER2 +, but was strongly ER positive (diag. 5/12/05).
Mastectomy & reconstruction with SIEA or DIEP flap, with another sentinel node biopsy, are planned for early Sept. My oncologist is saying I should have more chemo (taxitere) and herceptin (or herceptin & tykerb) only if the tumor is 5 mm or larger or if I have a positive lymph node.
Anyone have similar experiences or info. to share?

DancerDonna,

Sounded like a reasonable proposal from your oncologist. Unless the node biopsy shows anything, it makes sense to me.
