View Full Version : OT - Changing username?

Hi, two quick non-bc questions. Is there a way to change our username (the one that appears in the box to the left of our posts)? It think I remember that at one time, mine was my email address and I didn't want that out there for spammers and Joe offered to change it for me. I'd like to be "Debbie" in that spot but can't find the way to do it myself and it's too trivial a thing to bother Joe with. Is there a way we can change it?
Also, lately I notice that I'm frequently signed out, and having to log back in, to appear as me on this site (like right now, and I posted earlier today). That never used to happen - whenever I came here, somehow it knew me. Do any of you computer-savvy people know how to fix that? I'm not even sure if it's a setting on my computer or on my profile here.
These image verification letters are the hardest I've ever seen! I'm on my third try.
Thanks,
Debbie Laxague

Hope this helps Deb.
RE: User name, I do believe that you have to re-register. My name was MarieG originally and I changed it to Believe51 when we got hijacked. I have not tried to re-register so I do not know if it will consider you a duplicate even though there is only ONE Deb (wink)
RE: Signing in, I had this trouble recently when I changed accounts on the computer, try to log in under your new name. Save to "My Favorites". If you get out and go to your favorites ('cause I know we are, LOL) you should just click on the Her2Support and it should not only take you there but should log you in as YOU.
Hope this will help you fix these things. Lots of love>>Believe51

Hi,
I, too, would like to change my user name from "marejo" to "Mary Jo" but cannot. If I re-register it tells me that "my e-mail address is already registered" and I do not have any other e-mail address. I do want this e-mail address to remain here. So...."marejo" it is. BUT, my name is Mary Jo. I guess when I registered here, way back when, I wasn't sure what kind of site this was and wouldn't use my real name. Now I would.
Oh well...it's a minor thing.

You will have to have Joe change you or re-register. I have some admin rights on this board but I can't do that.
For your other problem, next time you long in, just make sure you click the "remember me" box.
E-mail me and I will change your usernames.

Thank you, Joe for the offer to change our usernames. I was hoping not to bother you. And as it turns out, I do not have to after all ...
So ... I went to the member list to look for available "Debbie" usernames, knowning there would be a lot of Debbies. I thought maybe I could do "Debbie L.". But there's already one of those, I saw. "Hmm, who is it?", I said to myself as I looked at the profile and email address connected to the username. Good grief. It's ME. With my same email. It appears that I signed up, made one post, completely forgot that I'd done that, and then went back to dlaxague. Pathetic.
I'm okay if life's on an even keel and I'm not doing too many things at once. But if things get rushed, especially if I'm trying to juggle several categories at once, it's as if brain function seizes up - just like my computer does when I push it.
So I'll leave dlaxague there if that's okay, as it has some private messages and links to all my old messages (sometimes I refer back to get references there, rather than try to look them up again). And I'll try to remember to do the "remember me" thing for Debbie L. and post under that username from now on.
Thanks, everyone.
