liver lesions ??

Hello Everyone,
I posted this to the newcomers thread, and someone suggest I put in in the her2 thread. (sorry for the repetition, I am just thrilled I figured out how to get into the her2 support forum). My CT scan in Aug. showed multiple lesions in both lobes of liver, also mild fullness in left adrenal gland. New scan in Nov. showed same thing no changes, except it noted that the osseous structures demonstrates mild degenerative changes of the thoracolumbar spine.(?)Dr. feels confident I have nothing to worry about, however he is extremely compassionate. He has ordered me a PET/CT within the wk. I know I am only a stage I, but I have a horrible family history of cancer, just in my immediate family. (Brother-died(22yo, Ewings Sarcoma,sister passed May 07(27yr.old-Uterine Leiomyosarcoma),mother had bc at 41(died at 64yrs. old from lung,hvy.smoker) I do not live by my cancer, but I do get a little nervous about how aggressive and easily my family is to cancer. I am someone who has to know everything there is (good or bad) about it. Anyone, with any thoughts, suggestions, ideas, concerns please feel free to open up!!

Hi Pam,

Welcome. It sounds like you are doing the right thing to get the PET and Cat scans done. You will know more once you have the results. It is tricky the like we walk between living our normal lives and staying aware of the reality of cancer. We must stay alert. In the best cases we are proven to be just fine in scan results...and that is GREAT, but no need to apologize for staying alert anyway.

Welcom here. It seems as though you have had a good look at what cancer can do. I hope you will look at the profiles on this site and know that it can be dealt with on a long term basis. It also looks as though you cought it early!!! eventhough cancer seems to run in your family, it doesn't mean that it is your death sentence. It can be your knowledge to look for it early and beat it if it occurs!!! I also advised someone to look into this forum and not only the newcomers forum for advice and I hope she was able to.

Welcome to our boards. I find so much helpful advice and support here and I know that you will too.

The PET scan is really what you need to sort out what is going on. I have been dealing with liver mets for over two years now and there are many options out there for treatment. I still work 3 days a week and lead a very active life - family, friends, travel, volunteering. But first things first - I always try to stay positive until I know anything for sure (I truly believe it helps you immune system to fight back). So get the PET and let's see what we are dealing with. And I do mean "we" as we are all in this fight together.

Welcome to our group! We have several members who are surviving with liver mets, so you will get some responses from them. A PET/CT is a very good idea, your doc sounds great.

Hi, I am new to the site, but Watched Nikki spend hours talking here. When she was first dx'ed with the liver lesions, they put her on Taxol, herceptin, and at that time a clinical study of Lapatinib (Tykerb), which worked well for her. Good luck to you.
