Got the word yesterday that my brain MRI this week supports the PET scan results from a couple of weeks ago...

Here's what the the radiologist said:

MRI of brain was good. Residual scarring, no active cerebral metastatic disease.

Woohoo!

Actually, he didn't say woohoo! (wouldn't it be great to get a doc's report that says woohoo!?), my onc's nurse added that to the email. LOL

Hi Brenda,
That is just a great post. I have so much faith in modern medicine. I am so happy to read your post.

Okay - I have a PET/CT on Monday. I hope I will have some good news to share, too. Ironic, if the pet is good then I have chemo to look forward to on Wednesday. Somehow, not the reward I had in mind. BUT, BUT, BUT, I'll just keep moving forward. Somehow. Am definitely needing to stay distracted this weekend. Maybe I'll rob the local 7-11. Look for me on the news. What better way to bring awareness to the strength of the Stage 4 Woman than to commit crimes? I know, I'll steal Mike 'n Ikes, my favorite candy (not that I eat sugar) But these are the new OMEGA 3 Mike 'n Ikes. Sometimes I just crack myself up:)
Wishing you a great weekend. xoxo Flori

That is such awsome news and that it was done with just Tykerb and Xeloda makes it even greater. No radiation or gamma knife was needed. It's good to know we have a pill now that will work on those brain mets..sherryg

I love a good WOO HOO! That is fabulous news, Brenda - thanks for sharing.

And Flori, as for you...don't make me come down there! You behave yourself. Too many sweets, even Omega-3, might just mess up your PET scan! Not to mention running from the scene of the crime kicking up inflammation. We don't want any hotspots, even false ones! LOL
Please update us when you get results of the scan.

!! Brenda!!

I have referred to you a number of times recently because of this great WOOHOO success!!

To my onc. To my 'kids'. To my friends. To my relatives.

With my latest progression comes 'bad news' for all. BUT, then I tell of your going straight to X/T, skipping ANY rads... and coming up a winner. just amazing! And such an inspiration to so many.

Since we added Temodar back in with the Xeloda, and Tykerb besides, my Mri at two months showed some slight decrease in size to several of the 6-10 tumors in brain. Others stable, nothing else new. So, in reality we can't tell if it's the Temodar again, or the Tykerb, or the combination of... pick any two or all three.

Back to you: I am just so damned pleased and happy for you :o) Thank you for giving HOPE to so many.

I'm in the left of the pic, with my friend Shannon and her hubby Kevin, at the Austin LiveStrong walk a month ago. (she is 28 and already on her first recurrance... non-her2.)

Brenda, That is just FANTASTIC news! Your choice in treatment paid off BIG TIME. :) I am beyond thrilled for you. Its great that you avoided rads and gamma as Sherry already mentioned and got such awesome results. Your story will no doubt help someone else if God forbid one of us has to deal with this. We have another way to try to HIT it thanks to you. But big congratulations. Hope you have a wonderful and enjoyable weekend. You certainly deserve it and then some.
