Turmeric absorbtion is greatly enhanced (up to 2000 x apparently) when taken at the same time as pepper.

the effectiveness of oral supplementation with curcumin has been limited by poor absorption into the bloodstream through the digestive tract. In the past, a few formulators worked around this problem by adding a derivative of black pepper, piperine, which enhanced the absorption of ingredients such as curcumin:

All I am saying is to continue taking curcumin but with black pepper (in the same Meal). Rhonda your link sent me somewhere else that what I think you had anticipated.

Anything from the peperine family will do I beleive. I read about black pepper so I personally stick to that. . Curry always contains some black peppers. Cayenne pepper I think would work.
