Calling all "smart ones"......................calling all "smart ones"...............
question for you concerning supplements..................................
Should I be taking folic acid?
That was simple huh? http://www.her2support.org/vbulletin/images/icons/icon7.gif
No offense to the "not smart ones" concerning supplement's. I'm in your boat too. We can drink and be not smart together.............http://www.her2support.org/vbulletin/images/icons/icon7.gif
Haha - Just teasing!
Thanks for your help......once again.
MJ
Hey - I think your very smart!
Yes to the folic acid esp. if your having that glass of wine.
I take 800 mg. a day...if I have wine I increase my folic acid.
There was a post /research on this recently / I think Lani
posted, about how the folic acid is a counter effect re: alcholol
see link pasted.

Thanks for that article Jean. I can't remember which movie or which actress but there's a great scene where she's drinking champagne and chewing aspirin. When asked why, she says champagne gives her a headache. That will be me shortly, only instead of aspirin, I'll chew on folic acid supplements.

Thanks for the information. So it's agreed that 800 mg. is a standard amount????

Folic acid and folates.
Here ls a link to wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folate
and to a health site.

Whole foods and greens is a good place to start maybe.
Doses for folic acid are generally I think in micrograms mcg and not milligrams. 1000mcg=1mg

(Please check for your self as I have not double checked)
Ensuring you get adequate omega threes (all the family) and balancing the omega sixes may help for a number of reasons if you enjoy an occasional drink.
As usual best to discuss supplementation with your medical advisor.

Yes. Unless you take Tykerb/Xeloda, then no. It makes the side effects of that combo worse...
Now, I don't how know much you should take, but you do already get it in your multi and in a good B complex.
That a girl Grace...
I took an extra Folic Acid tonight since we went out to celebrate my son's
new job. I have not had anything all month. I balanced my glass of champange with a huge salad, lots of veggies and my Floic Acid.
Gosh - who would of thunk it....I could have had a V 8 but chose
the champange!
Hugs,
Jean
How's the house coming along?
