If you read Lani's thread, you will see that DG Employment of the European Commission have come up with a Directive that may make it impossible to get an MRI scan in the EU after next April.

So far I have written to my member of the European parliament, my member of parliament and the Prime Minister about my concerns.

If you are in Britain, you can find your MP on this website:
http://www.parliament.uk/directories/directories.cfm

and your MEP on this website:
http://www.europarl.org.uk/uk_meps/MembersMain.htm

MEPs represent regions and parties rather than constituencies.

Take care,

Christine

Christine I've already sent off some stern letters about this after I read Lani's post yesterday. I was amazed i'd heard nothing at all about this until I read the details here. Shocking!! Thank you Lani:)
P.S...I've also posted this info on some other sites I am a member of so hopefully enough people can stop this happening.

I am in the USA at the moment but I have already emailed Breast cancer and Macmillan and asked them that they should get organised between all the cancer charities to stop this very very very silly EU Directive. It is hard enough as it is to get an MRI in the UK!!!
What I do not understand is what will they do with all the millions of pounds/Euros of equipments?????

The more I think about it the more I think that it is simply impossible the the directive will not be reviewed to have a derogation for MRI scanning accross the EU..

What are they going to do with all the specialists radiologist and the million of MRI scans required every year?

Mind you a similarly well design EU Directive did try to outlaw unpasterised cheese from France (and EU).. that would have been the day!
