I am attaching rates and Miraval SPA guide to compare w/ other proposals. Meals are included. (Joe, can we get tax exemption as a non profit for hotel rooms?). There is an added sales tax and service fee. The rates for this opulent resort are not as bad as I had expected. See email response from Mr. Sim below:

Karen,
Greeting from The Beautiful Sonoran Desert! Thank you for your consideration of Miraval life in Balance Resort and Spa as a possible site for your HER2 Support Group Retreat. Currently we do have the availability on a first option basis over the dates of January 2-5, 2008. Please see the attached Partnership Proposal for your program as well as our current activity guide for your review. Please note that we are offering your program almost $200.00 less than our normal rates, in hopes of hosting your retreat in January of 2008. Please note that we are currently not holding space for you, but happy to do so upon your request.
Karen, thank you again for your consideration and I look forward to working with you towards a most successful program. Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.
Best regards,

Karen,

Tax exempt status means that we do not have to pay tax on income ie: donations, grants etc.

Unfortunately we do have to pay tax on all of our purchases.

I am currently in San Francisco until Sunday afternoon. Please email me your phone number and I will contact you either Sunday or early next week.

Regards
Joe

i'm confused on the activities. There are activities listed for the whole day, would we have to pay for them? Or is whatever on the list of activities come with the rate?

I am sure there are additional fees for any activities not stated in the included part, but I will ask Mr. Sim to clarify.

Dear Mr. Sim
What activities are included in the proposed cost? Can each client pick and choose what they would like to do from the daily itinerary? Is the 1 spa service or round of golf for each day or for the entire 3 day stay? I can't seem to cut and paste your proposal or add this attachment to a thread on our web site. Is it possible for you to copy and paste your proposal with clarifications of above in an email reply?

Dear StillHere

I will not be able to attend those dates. Two of my three children are college students who live away from home and they will be home during that period (with one of them having to return January 5 or 6 (with classes restarting Jan 7).

Sorry, maybe next time for me.

Hugs,

I like Miraval. The place seems superb, like our group. If we can change the date that Becky and few others can come it would be great. The message is for each day and all other activities are included as it says on the website. Can't wait to see you all in a nice place.

The $200.00 discount applied to Jan 2,3,4. It is sort of an off peak time during a High Peak season for this resort. Unfortunately we are never going to be able to arrive at dates that accomdate everyone (but I wish it were possible). Next question: It looks like Miraval can only guaranty 5 single rooms and 5 double rooms for these dates at the discounted prices. How many of us want to go for the serenity & opulence of Miraval vs the cost effectiveness and entertainment available and probably more rooms available in Las Vegas? Please respond by 9/12 so we can move forward. Thank you.

Bummer, I am open Jan 10-16 (and possibly until Jan 21). But as of Jan 16th or 21st, I will be heading to Phoenix anyway to work on a project for 2 weeks... hmmmmm. It's possible I could make make something work out if it was Jan 16, 17, 18 timeframe... since I will already be heading to the neighborhood, but I understand that the best rates are for the specified Jan 2,3,4 timeframe - so you girls have a blast wherever you end up! I hope to make it to a future one!

I prefer Miraval and I think $200 discount is very good. The date is fine with me. But if more people can come for another date another place, no problem. I like to see as many people as possible.

Color me GUMBY.... I am flexible. Mirival does sound marvelous, but as I agree with Sherri, if we can get more participation on another date. I want to add thanks to you for all your efforts, no m atter where they lead us to relax.

Just to clarify
there is a almost 30% extra charge on top of the daily rate of 475.00 or 399.00, which would make the cost about $650.00 single or $530.00 double per night, correct?
Thanks

Shelia, I come up w/ $625.00 and $525.00, but yes you are correct in the fact we need to add tax and service fee's onto the listed price. Yes, it a pricey place BUT WE ARE DEFINITELY WORTH IT! This trip, where ever we end up, will be my cancerversary gift to myself.

I got bumped off a flight last spring, and I have two free plane tickets to anwhere in the U.S. Can you please keep me in the loop on this trip. I have a grandson who lives with me whose birthday is in early January, but again keep me in the loop and let me know what is the final outcome insofar as dates and location.
