I posted last week with my tale of the my first post breast reduction mammogram on my left (good) breast. I had the reduction surgery in Oct. 2006 and the PS found the tumour in my right breast, which I had removed with a MRM in Dec. 2006.

Finished chemo May 10th, on Herceptin since June 10, started Tamoxifen July 10. The mammo was Aug. 9th, the radiologist thought he saw benign cysts, but wanted an ultrasound to be sure. I had the ultrasound this morning, and the radiologist told me the U/S confirmed it is B9 cysts, with "0% chance of anything to worry about." However, based on my history and the fact that last year 4 months before the reduction surgery my mammo and U/S (not done at this hospital though) showed nothing, he recommends I get a breast MRI once a year, and the digital mammo/ U/S once a year, spaced 6 months apart so that my breast is being imaged every 6 months. I will have to discuss this with my onc. and BS of course.

If I decide to keep the breast, I think this is a good plan. However, I am going to make an appointment with the PS who I saw last year who specializes in DIEP and post. mast. implant reconstruction surgery. I will discuss the possibility of taking off the left one prophylactically and doing immediate reconstruction. Or I may just take it off and do no reconstruction. I will explore all my options, and right now there is no rush - still waiting on my genetics testing results, but the counsellor thinks my risk of being BRCA 1 or 2+ is very low.

So thanks everyone for all your information, advice and support.
