View Full Version : Tykerb/Xeloda - help with side effects?
Hi all,
Caryn just finished her 2nd week and she's having trouble with mouth sores and fatigue. The sores aren't surprising but the fatigue is. Has any one else experienced this? Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Eric

Has she had her counts checked? Xeloda can cause a drop of red counts in many people. Usually you have to have them done the week after you take the xeloda for an accurate count.

Eric,
I would recommend Biotene products for mouth sores and dry mouth. You can also get a mouthwash with seaweed extract and dead sea minerals at WholeFoods which seemed to help my mom with the oral mucosa. If one is really bothering her, look for a laser dentist that can treat it to heal faster and eliminate some of the pain.
Hugs,

Eric, I was on Xeloda for about a year with Herceptin, and experienced moderate tiredness, but nothing too dramatic. Don't know about Tykerb yet, won't start until next week, with Taxol. Try posting your question on the new Herceptin/Tykerb Board...

Eric-
I am always fatigued while on chemo, but didn't think xeloda was tougher than any of the other regimes. I remember when tykerb was first added, I had a few days of being VERY tired, but after that it moderated back to what was normal for me... Good luck w/ the mouthsores.
