Hi
I am new and was wondering if anyone has found anything to help with the constant runny nose caused from Herceptin and/or chemo. I was dx with mets to the liver in 2005 and have been on Herceptin since along with a number of different chemos, right now Xeloda. If I bend over my nose just drips, very embarrassing.

I also had blurry vision about a year ago. I went to the eye doctor who found cataracts. He said the chemo had encouraged the cataracts to grow. After surgery for both eyes I now see great.

Hello,
I have been on herceptin for a month now and now have runny and last week my eyes began to water and bother me after the treatment. It is hard to read.
Is an eye exam needed for this. My dr. has said the runny nose is normal with this but can it lead to other things like bronchitis.

Dear Linda,
I have same problem, have tried RX antihistimine and RX nasal spray, neither worked very well. I think it's the Herceptin, I just guess I'll have to live with it as I'll be on treatment for some time. Good luck.

also have runny nose but not constant. if my head is down little droplets just fall right out without warning...so embarassing at times. was working out with my trainer and he had me bending forward for back extensions and drop drop it went. i had prewarned him luckily.

I have seriously thought of buying stock in a kleenex company! I have been on Herceptin non stop for 3 1/2 years and my nose has run all 3 1/2 years! In San Antonio, I mentioned this to the Genentech people, and they acted surprised....too many of us have this from the Herceptin for it to be a coincidence! Like Rinaina said, it is worse when you bend over, or its cold outside!
You are not alone with the "drip". It almost feels like its thinner than water... I did not use anything because the nose drip was not so seldom. What really bothered me was the "crusty" scabby nose I got. It was painful. I used chapstick on a q-tip and rubbed the interior of my nostrils with it. See if your doc can prescribe an antihistamine...
Hang in there!
