it take to actually start working from the time you get the implant and the time it starts working on shutting down the ovaries? I did a search on this and can find lots of information on Zoladex itself...but not how long it takes before the implant starts working? (A couple days, a week, what?)

I had my estrodiol level checked the other day and I had NOT had my zoladex yet. Estrodiol was 34 the day of the blood test...but by the time I got an ok for the zoladex it was probably much higher. Once you get the implant...how long would it take to actually start shutting down the ovaries? Does anyone know? I looked every where and just can't find an answer to this. (Hopefully immediately.)

During the first few weeks of treatment, your hormone levels will actually increase before they decrease. This is a normal response by your body to this drug. This effect may result in new symptoms or worsening of symptoms (e.g., pain, tumor size) for the first few weeks. In women, it is expected that menstrual periods will stop when this medication is used regularly. Tell your doctor promptly if regular periods continue after 2 months of treatment with Zoladex
