Thank you for being here.

Sue is a kidney donor. We are wondering if there are any others here and what their experiences with medication post-op was.

We need to research whether or not herceptin is given to donors, and if being a donor alters treatment. If you know, it would be a great help if you let us know.

Sue is scheduled for a mastectomy with node biopsy on Dec. 5th. Reconstruction same day.

Hi Kevin and Sue,

I have a close friend who is Stage IV, Her2+. She has been on AC/Taxol and Herceptin, and now Naveline (I'm spelling this wrong) and Herceptin. I don't think the fact that she donated a kidney has changed her treatment plan at all.

Hope this helps.

Kevin,

All I can tell you is that once you have a diagnosis of cancer you can not longer be an organ donor. The only thing after diagnosis that you can donate is your eyes. I'm assuming that Sue received a kidney and in that case I'm not sure what the protocol would be.

What I meant is that Sue donated a kidney 15 years ago. So, she's one short. and I wondered if that was going to change her treatment.

Thanks for the information, it all helps.
