Hi everyone!
My name is Lisa and I am an 8 yr survivor. I was dx in 1998 with IDC. 2/6 nodes+ ER/PR+, Her2+++. Received AC/Taxol and then Tamoxifen.
I recurred a year into the Tamoxifen (2000) to the axillary lymph nodes, skull, and spine.
Since then I have been on Herceptin with almost every hormonal and a ton of chemo. I even had Tykerb in a trial out of University of North Carolina and failed that. However, the trial was for safety and it was Tykerb alone, no chemo or Herceptin given with it.
Recently, I have had more progression. Now I have it in the soft tissue of my hip and lymph nodes in my chest. I had bone-only disease for 6 yrs and now I am worried it is only a matter of time until it shows up in an organ.
My onco put me on, of all things, Tamoxifen with Herceptin. He said there are some studies showing they work synergistically. Anyone hear of this? It seems too good to be true. I am highly doubting this will do anything. I have to try it though.

Up until recently, I have had a "normal" life. I am pretty active for having so many bone mets sites. I have it in all of my spine, hips, pelvis, both femurs, skull, and ribs (new). I have no pain and don't take any pain killers, unless I really need them after a night of dancing.

I am married, no kids. I have 3 dogs of my own and 2 foster dogs that keep me VERY busy!
Thanks so much for having this site. I feel like you can all relate to what I am going through.
Lisa

Lisa,

Welcome to the board but sorry you had to find your way here. I'm sorry I can't give you any advise since I am hormone negative. I can tell you that just reading your story has given me inspiration. I know there are days when I just think to myself - how much longer do I have - will I progress to Stage IV -- is the Herceptin working, etc, etc. I'm sure you've been there, done that. Just from reading the board here it seems to me that a lot of hormone positive women are now on the AIs. You may want to post this on the HER2 support board as well since that is where most of the women go to read posts. I will keep you in my prayers
