The HER2 Support Group is looking for 2 volunteers to join our advisory committee. Although you are relatively new to this website, you became a full member the day that you registered. To us, you are just as valuable as members who have been on this site for years.

Your participation is extremely important to us, as you can tell us what needs improvement or what should be added.

Our first project will be to form guidelines for a mentor program. This program will match a seasoned member with a newcomer in order to help them navigate through the health care system as it applies to women who are HER2 +.

Meetings will be held by teleconference at a day and time to be determined.

Warmest Regards
Joe

Joe,

Can you tell me a bit more about what might be involved? There are not a lot of members in Canada, so I'm not sure that my "two cents" would be as pertinent to the majority of your members, but I would be willing to volunteer. Do you know how long the first project to identify guidelines will last? I'm starting radiation in early Oct and might be quite tired by the end of Oct. I would like to be able to give a bit back to this site since it has been very helpful for me.

Carina,
The current project will be a priority because we anticipate funding shortly. We have also received a grant for a series of "Ask the Expert" teleconferences. The group will be asked to develop a list of priorities for that initiative also.

Another project would be to suggest additional message board subjects. The committee is only limited by their imagination. They can initiate their own programs.Your input is very important because as a relatively new member, you are in a better position to evaluate the needs of our organization.

We would hope that the committee would be a permanent part of our organization and develop other programs.

Keep in mind that the HER2 Support Group exists to serve the needs of our members.

Warmest Regards
Joe
