I have been having pain in left hip for several weeks. I reported it to my onc last Thursday who immediately sent me for an X-ray and a bone scan. Initial indications to me were good, but just got the official word--BONE SCAN is clear! X-ray shows a bone spur on "lateral roof of left acetabulum". Something else to deal with, but at least its not mets!

Hey Sassy -
I am so glad you reported the pain and got it checked out.
AND that it had nothing to do with cancer! The odd thing is that mets are often NOT painful, at least not in early stage. I have a friend whose arm actually broke due to a met and she did not know she had anything wrong.
Another reason to have periodic scans.

hi sassy - glad to hear you got it checked out. Dr. K is really fast to suggest testing. I found a lump on my chest and he ordered a Pet/CT scan without even seeing me first! thanks for reccomending him - again.... Kim

Hi sassy, That is wonderful news you got. Congratulations. Bone spurs are no fun...but much better then other things I can think of. ;)
Your post gives me some encouragement...I have had my left hip LITE up on my PET/CT scan, it says there is increased uptake in my left acetabulum. I've had two recommedations to have a MRI done on it. But my onc doc won't do it. I keep bringing it up to her and she says "Ok...we can do that". But I see its still NOT be ordered...and it has me worried. Especially since its lite up twice now on my scans.
I hope my pain turns out to be a bone spur. :) That would be a major relief. This is the first time I would be thrilled to have a bone spur...who would of thunk it. lol :)
I am truly thrilled for you. Its always so nice to get good news.
