Hi,
After successfully completing lumpectomy, chemo, radiation, and Herceptin treatments for Stage 2A breast cancer, my MRI and Ultrasound tests found several new nodes in my "other" (non-cancer) breast and they "believe" these nodes to be Fibroadenomas which are benign. Has anyone else been diagnosed with a benign nodule? What was your follow up and treatment?
Thanks!

Jamie,
I always had dense, fibrocystic breasts. Years before being diagnosed with cancer I had had 2 Fibroadenomas removed - one from each breast.

I had a suspicious lump one year after dx with bc. They did an MRI, and will do follow up mammogram in 6 months. They feel it is just a cyst but will follow carefully. I chose to believe it is nothing serious. After a year of treatment, I am ready to feel good and think about other things than bc!
Have a great day.

Hi Jaime,
I am 3 weeks out from a prophylactive left mastectomy ( was dx w Stage IIIC last June-05, at which time I underwent right mastectomy )
Anyway, I had an MRI 6mos ago, and no detectable lump in left breast. However, the surgeon felt palpable lymph nodes prior to this surgery
My pathology report showed intraductal and lobular atypical hyperplasia.
In the breast. My nodes were "fatty".
Which is basically a time bomb.
I am thankful I pursued and now never have to worry about lumps anymore.
