My name is joanie long. I am a two and one-half year breast cancer survivor
with IDC, Grade II, ER positive, PR negative, HER 2 neu 6.3, age 69 when diagnosis made. Treatment: 7 weeks radiation followed by a 5-yr plan of
one/day Arimidex. Tumor size was 8 mm. located right up against chest wall with no lymph node involvement. Two lumpectomies were done one week
apart because the margins were not clear the first time, and the second time
all margins are slim.

Is there anyone reading this that has a similar situation, and if so, would you be
so kind as to share any information with me regarding your situation and your
treatment plan?

Thanks in advance.

you may want to post this on the "HER2 support" section as more read that. Good luck. Take care and God bless.

Hi there, Maybe ask for an oncotype dx test for chance of recurrence. I guess they're pricy but may be worth the peace of mind or may be enough ammo to get herceptin. Hope all works out for you. BB

Joannie, just realized I didn't post any of my info or teatment. My tumor also abutted chest wall. I think surgeon sent speciman to path lab while I was under and went back in when margins were too thin. Final margins were fine except at the part that abuts chest wall. Stage 2, node neg, triple pos, Nottingham score7/9. AC, taxol and Herceptin, rads, tamoxifen and herceptin. I was told by the surgeon if the tumor was less than a cm, I wouldn't have to do chemo. But other docs looking at the big picture said it should be treated aggressively.

You could always get a 2nd opinion as well. With her 2+, size may not be indicative of prognosis. BB
