tumor markers

I had treatment on Thursday, My tumor markers ca 15-3 was up to 102 from 78...I kind of freaked out...we added navelbine in hopes of bringing them down, however the last couple of days I have felt a bladder infection coming on, I got put on antibiotics today...The nurse at the clinic said that a bladder infection has nothing to do with these numbers going up..but I thought that I had heard that they can cause this...so I guess I am wondering if there really is hard evidence that points to a rise in markers because of an infection. I am kind of bummed out..I have had several people close to me die lately from breast cancer and I am just so #$@*'n sick of this bloody disease!!

Hi Tammymarie. I have been looking for a more definite answer for you from a reliable source because I've heard that quite often too. Most of what I've found talks about rises due to other diseases, not infection, but I'm still looking. Does anyone else have a good answer to this question?
