I'm sure this is a repeat but are there studies showing benefit of taking herceptin during WBR. Rad oncs have told us they don't want my wife to get any herceptin (or chemo current cocktail is navelbine, xeloda plus the herceptin) during WBR.

Christine mentioned to us herceptin during WBR should be beneficial in fact I think she said WBR presents an opportunity for herceptin to penetrate the blood brain barrier. The fog is clearing a little now that we have a plan of treatment we selected and I want to clarify some finer points on treatment details I should push for that I may have misinterpreted in the daze that followed our scan news from 3/2.

This may sound like a stupid question but I'm new here and learning a lot. Can you tell me what WBR means. Thanks.

No problem, WBR = Whole Brain Radiation

I took Herceptin throughout my wbr. All I can tell you is it has been over a year with no recurrences in the brain. For what that's worth.
