does anyone know what the "normal" range is for alk phos level?
my level has been fluctuating from 174 in april, 220 in may, 138 in june, 146 in aug., & 130 & 139 in sept. I finished chemo in april & have been on herceptin since april. I'm stage IIIA, her2+, 7 pos. nodes. Should I be concerned? my other markers are normal.

I thought the range was 50 - 136 but I could be mistaken. When I go home, I will look as I get copies of all my bloodwork and generally, they give the normal range on them.

My paperwork says 38-126. Different labs have different ranges.

my labs normal range is below 125. Mine went up like 115,118,123,126 in a period of 4 months and last weeks came as 123 below normal. I think as long as it does not continuously grow it should be OK.

I'm home now and my actual paperwork states 20 - 125 UL (which is more in range with the other posts).

Best regards

My onc has said to me that we use markers as another tool to asses my treatment effectiveness. Liver enzymes can jump around due to unrelated causes, so we look for a trend, rather than a single result. continual trends either up or down are confirmation of my status.

Just keep watching your test results, and don't worry unless you see a continuing upward trend over time.

Hi there, have you ever had one done before BC? I got my BC in 1998, I have a connective tissue disorder, before BC of course, anyway my Alk Phos have always been in the red, and for the first time ever this year it was in the normal range, only the once and not seen again, no idea why. I have no organ or bone involvement lymph skin and now other breast. The calcium in my blood raising this level higher at the moment is from a shoulder I fractured and the bone breaking down from lack of blood supply to that area, my CTD is renowned for elevating Alk Phos. I have a disorder that tries to kill off my good cells, and BC as back up, while they are fighting for top position I am sneaking in the chemo.

Hope this helps, Love & Hugs Lyn.
