To look at Linda you would never know she's had cancer FIVE times, half her stomach has been removed, she's had two blood transfusions in the last three years and she has had other MANY serious health problems including a serious injury to her back due to a fall. The girl is as thin as you can get and has recently lost 15 pounds. Fearing the worst, I got out of bed and all dressed up to accompany my bestest friend to her oncologist the other day, but not before saying a prayer to St. Peregrine - the patron saint of all those afflicted by cancer, foot ailments or any incurable disease. Now mind you, although I was baptized in the Greek Orthodox church, my family did not attend church (except for holidays), I have never read the bible and really don't know much about religion. I have recently found comfort in praying and have started to explore my spirituality. I have started going to church, read here and there, and carry and cherish many religious items that have been given to me since getting sick. I received a link about the pine tree crosses the other day and I really liked it. See link below. So, we drive nearly an hour in the freezing, slushy rain. Get out of the car, and there before me were hundreds of pine tree crosses. It was amazing. We go inside and they take her blood. We were joking with the nurse trying to cover the concern. Her blood pressure was 94/50. Very scary!!! She's praying for an 8 or 9 on her counts. The nurse, being optimistic, says 10. I say a little prayer again and roll the dice asking for an 12. They both look at me like I am crazy. The nurse comes back with a 12.1!!!!!!!!!! Everything was good. Mo luekemia or anemai. They gave her some iron and sent us on our way. I got in the car and looked in the mirror to fix my snow covered very thin hair, and a guardian angel clip that was very securely fastened to the visor falls in my lap. The angels were with us letting me know they were all around. Oh yeah, I received a pamphlet in the mail about St. Peregrine. How amazing!
