Hi

I had my echocardiogram on Monday and it does show problems with the left ventricle, I go to see the Cardiologist tomorrow.

The Onc. has stopped the herceptin and put me on furosemide, will probably be going on to xeloda next.

I also read that emotional stress can cause the problems that I have and I have certainly had enough stress lately and the really bad breathlessness started a few days after my husbands funeral. Does anyone know how long it takes for the heart to get better after stopping herceptin assuming that is what is causing it ?

I am supposed to be going to Pensylvannia around the 22nd of March to see my sister haven't booked yet but hope I can still go.

Hi there, the frusemide is usually for fluid on the lungs and that is probably why you have been breathless. My fluid was caused by a floppy mitral valve in the heart which was pumping backwards putting the fluid back into my lungs. Have you been taking Celebrex? That was what caused mine, and also thyroid treatment.

Hugs from Lyn

Hello,

I am sorry to hear about your heart problems. Did you take Adriamycin. It is usually the combo of AC and Herceptin that causes problems. Anyway I have heard that garlic and calcium are very good supplements to take to help your heart. Sometimes this is somewhat reversible on the Herceptin damage I hear.
Good luck

I just read an article on CNN yesterday about how true heartache like you've experienced CAN affect the heart. And Herceptin can play a role. If you're taking chemo currently, start CoQ 10 supplements. They can help the heart. For many, being off Herceptin only a short time will do the trick. The heartache from your husband's loss, of course, will take much longer.

Love and light to all here and above,

Lisa
