Hello Friends; My Her2+++ friend has had a 2nd recurrence of lung mets, after over 2 years of NED on maintenance Herceptin. I am hoping those of you who've dealt with lung mets will post your treatment regimens and response so she will have some ideas to go on when she meets with her oncologist Tuesday. I will print out your responsed for her to read. Thank you for any help!

Love, Lolly

Hi Lolly,

I' have mets to lungs and liver. Been on clinical trial of avastin and taxol for one year now. Lungs are in remission (since April) and liver lesions are less and smaller...now stable. Don't know if it's the taxol, avastin or both. Avastin is being used in many trials. It is approved for colon cancer...not bc yet...hope this helps

Warmly,

judiek

Hi Lolly,

My wife Caryn was diagnosed with mets to lung and liver in July 04. Gemzar/Herceptin (Gemzar: 2 on 1 off and Herceptin continuous) has her clear and she has just stoppped the gemzar.

Hope your friend has as strong results with whatever treatment she tries.

Warmest regards,
Eric

I was dx with kung mets in 2003- very involved including paralized diaphragm and vocal cords -had 4 months of taxotere (every 3 weeks) and herceptin daily (am still on the herceptin) It worked very well and since then I have been NED in my lungs. Good luck and God Bless. Patty

My lung mets dx was almost 2 years ago - Feb 2003. The lung nodule I had was surgically removed. Treatment after that was Navalbine and Herceptin for about 6 months (Herceptin every week, Navalbine 3 weeks on 1 week off) then just Herceptin for another 9 months (1 treatment every 3 weeks - called a maintenance dose).

I have been NED since the surgery in 2003. I have not done any chemo - not even Herceptin - since July. Results of the PET scan I had 3 weeks ago were "all clear".

Thank you all for your responses, I am hoping this will be encouraging to my friend, to know there are others out there who have been in the same boat. I'll see her tomorrow. Thanks again!

Hi Lolly, I also have lung mets since Oct. 2002. I have tried many chemos but some only have worked for a very short while. I am presently on Xeloda/Herceptin. Maybe this is do it.
