An August 7 2003 study published in the New England Journal of Medicine finds that a sentinel-node biopsy can safely and accurately screen axillary nodes for metastasis in women with breast cancer tumours equal to or less than 2 cm in diameter. See N Engl J Med 2003;349:546-53.
