I wanted to post this for everyone on a clinical trial with Herceptin. I just finished my last Herceptin 7 weeks ago and completed Chemo AC/TH Clinical Trial in May 2002. I already had a recurrence over my collar bone after stopping Herceptin within 6 weeks. So far I am the first one on this study who has had a recurrence. My Oncologist said I definitely helped a lot of women by this happening, so I wanted to make sure all of you know about this to inform your doctors to monitor you closely. It came back so fast and now I have started Taxol, Carboplatin and Herceptin will be indefinitely. Just started yesterday and in a week I have already had 2 more lumps on the other side. I will definitely keep you posted on my progress because I know I was very anxious to hear the outcome of having Hercepin on the trials also. Keep the Faith.

Sorry, I meant May 2003 for last Chemo and I continued on Herceptin until the last week of February of this year on the Trial. I was originally diagnosed in Oct. 2002.

I don't understand...you finished in May 2002??? But you recurred six weeks later?? That would be two nearly two years ago. I don't understand what your time frame was.

Also, you started treatment YESTERDAY? But you developed two more lumps in ONE WEEK? I don't understand.

Please explain. This is naturally causing me serious fear and concern, as I finished herceptin three weeks ago today.

Best to you,

Lauren

ok...thanks. I am not on the herceptin trial, but I took herceptin along with taxotere and then took herceptin for a year after the taxotere was done. I was diagnosed in August 2002 and finished "chemo" in April 2003 and so I just finished herceptin this month.

the trial did not include a full year of herceptin following your chemo?

who knows if it would have even made a difference. i am glad that i was on it for 15 months, but i am so scared now.
