Dear Chandi,

Previously, you asked me whether there were special drugs for estrogen negative, progesterone positive breast cancer patients. At the time, I did not find much on the topic. The cross-link below will take you to a transcript derived from a recent "ask the expert" on-line conference regarding current anti-estrogen breast cancer treatments.

One of the key questions presented in that conference is your question regarding potential treatment of estrogen-negative, progesterone positive breast cancer. The transcript notes that the drugs used for estrogen-positive disease are also used for ER-negative, PR-positive disease. I hope this information is helpful.

Hi Paul !

Thanks for the information. I got the same reply from one oncologyst who answers to the questions raised by the patients on a message board similar to one here that is run by WebMdhealth. His reply was that the medicines used for inhibit ER also has an impact on the PR level in the body.
I still, dont know the exact function of PR, but I know little about ER. I will check the link given.
Thanks.
Chandi
