Hello folks!

I have not been online for a long while, many thanks to my aging computer! Just got a new PC at last, gratefully!

Now, I am in the process of ordering a medic alert for lymphedema prevention. I just cannot decide between a bracelet or necklace.

I had lymph node dissection in my left armpit (18 nodes out). I have yet to experience lymphedema. I think that a bracelet would fit me better, but then it would catch attention from people whom I interacted with.

So, I would like to hear your input / experiences with medic alerts.

Thanks & hugs! :-)

I wear a surgical steel arm bracelet. I also wear a jobst sleeve (had 45 nodes removed) for prevention of lymphedema and the bracelet fits over the sleeve. I leave the bracelet on all the time and shower with it on. I don't like advertising but I have to do what I have to do to stay healthy. If I had a big arm it would stand out so the way I look at it there is no way I can cover it up except to wear long sleeves and its too hot for me to do that except in the winter. I hope this helps. Hugs, Sandy

I have a bracelet, but don't wear it because if it rides up on my arm even a little, it aggravates my lymphedema, as the arm is very sensitive to constriction there. I have been meaning to order the necklace, and I believe you can order them in different lengths so it would hang under the clothing. I do have a card that I carry in my wallet with my ID, that says in red, Lymphedema Alert Right Arm, plus a card to alert med personal about my port.
Whether the bracelet catches people's attention or not, I don't know, but many people have medical conditions and would probably not consider it that unusual.
