Ofcourse we are all entitled to our own opionions, but I believe the greatest strength in this site is the support, encouragement,
information and hope that we offer one another as we make this journey through breast cancer.
This disease has demanded so much from each one of us...requiring us to endure difficult, circumstances, surgery & treatments, make compromises and sacrifices that we never dreamed we would have to,including jeopardizing the potential to have a family-whether that is due to chemo-induced menopause or fears of what may happen during/due to pregnancy.
I can't imagine that pregnancy is significantly more stressful on the body than CANCER or more devastating to the immune system than CHEMO, RADIATION & not to mention the STRESS associated with managing this disease. We've endured all of these things AND WE ARE ALL SURVIVING!
Incidentally, does anyone know if the statistics show that there is a higher incidence of miscarriage in women who have had breast cancer (hormone pos OR neg) & completed chemotherapy than in the general population?
Ultimately, hope burns eternal and NO ONE can take that away. When I feared that I would never come out of menopause after 49 weeks of chemo, I did! When I was so upset afer my onc said I "would never be off chemo long enough to sustain a pregnancy", I've been NED for 8 mos & counting.AND I have heard of many, many women who have had successful pregnancies after treatment, even Stage IV!
I'm sure you can find an onc that has experience with pregnancy post dx & tx...Good luck, Beatrice!

Keep the faith!
